Canon PG-510 ink cartridges PG-512 ink cartridges both contain black ink and fit the same printers, but what’s the difference?
Despite the difference in name, both the Canon PG-510 and the PG-512 have exactly the same external dimensions. The key difference between the two is the amount of ink which is contained within, and therefore, the number of pages which can be printed before changing the cartridge.
The standard capacity Canon PG-510 cartridge contains 9ml of ink, giving an approximate yield of 220 pages.
The high capacity Canon PG-512 cartridge contains 15ml of ink, which give a page yield of approximately 400 pages.
Will Canon PG-512 cartridges fit my printer?
This is a common question, as the name of the cartridge is different than a standard ink cartridge.
In fact, a PG-512 cartridge will fit any printer that takes the standard capacity PG-510 cartridges. So, if you usually use Canon PG-510 ink cartridges, then you can also use the PG-512 variety with out issue. The same is also true of the high capacity colour CL-513 ink cartridge.
You can view the full printer compatibility on our Canon PG-512 ink cartridge page.
